Poetry Song

May 10, 2010ishabelle

I was watching the old movie Bed of Roses earlier. I heard Sarah MacLachlan’s song called Ice Cream. I just like hearing that song because the lyrics are so sweet. It’s what poetry is all about – being able to express what one feel through words. If music fits, it makes the poem even more special and magical. Anyway, if you haven’t heard the song before, you should Google it out. Here are the words to the song. I wasn’t kidding when I said they were sweet… 🙂

Your love is better than ice cream
Better than anything else that I’ve tried
And your love is better than ice cream
Everyone here know how to fight

And it’s a long way down
It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down to the place
Where we started from

Your love is better than chocolate
Better than anything else that I’ve tried
Oh love is better than chocolate
Everyone here knows how to cry

It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down to the place
Where we started from…

Another good one is Cherry Popsicle by the fabulous Jann Arden:

“I loved you more than anything
I loved you more than anyone
You were the peaches in my cream
    You were my setting sun

You were my favorite hockey card
You were my smokey little bar
    You were my cherry popsicle
    You’ll never ever know

I was so in love i had lost myself
I was so far gone i could not get out
I had disappeared i had slipped away
I was so in love with you baby

You were my chocolate covered heart
You were my sweetest honey bee
You were my flashlight in the dark
    You were my cherry tree

I took you in like oxygen
I let you drive my brand new car
You were like no one i’d ever seen
Oh baby, you became my arms

I was so in love i had lost myself
I was so far gone i could not get out
I had disappeared i had slipped away
I was so in love with you baby

I was so in love i had lost myself
I was so far gone i could not get out
I had disappeared i had slipped away
I was so in love with you baby

I was so in love i had lost myself
I was so far gone i could not get out”
